A Federation probe reached a distant world and sent back an impossible report: a livable planet with no surface, only islands suspended above a global storm. Then the signal was gone.
Expeditions and colonists followed. None of them came back — equipment failed down there, and the storm bled power from every system.
Three hundred years later, a new expedition found the world thriving, its settlers flying zeppelins and building kingdoms.
Yet the expedition's priority is not the world or its people. It's the mineral keeping the islands in the air, even if studying it means breaking them apart.
In the Heights, a young eagle rider launches toward a mythic islet, hoping to save his dying home. A Technocracy pilot wakes in a pine canopy after an ambush kills her wingman. Above and below them, a fallen noble flies under a corsair's flag, and a Federation medic works orders she no longer trusts.
They found the Storm has started draining whatever keeps the islands aloft. And the islands will drop from the sky.
The first of the Skies of Azoria trilogy. A mix of science fiction, steampunk and adventure.
"I've seen the sky. I've flown with the wind." – Toryn Skyheart
Young eagle rider, eager to save his tribe. Follow his quest from the Heights to the Depth.
"So, I have a complicated past and ambitions for the future. Is that a problem?" – Kip Saroven
Lord Killian Saroven or Corsair Kip — who would you fly with?
"You might be nuts — but I've got the wrench." – Lina Ryven
She woke dangling from a tree, her chute tangled in branches. Her plane was smoking debris. Her ribs screamed. "Steam and rust," Lina snarled. "Those bastards are going to pay."
"They can only hurt your body." – Nora Hertzig
She woke in a pool of blood. "This is how it ends."
But the red was wrong - too bright, too thin.
Her fingers found the torn pocket: a saline bag mixed with a burst blood packet.
"Not mine, then," she thought, and smiled.
This map shows only a fragment of Azoria – the mid-altitudes where the floating islands drift above the endless Storm. This is the realm of corsairs, miners, and skyfarers, where the struggle for survival plays out among scattered isles.
